Use of CsI(T1) scintillators with photodiode read-out in heavy ion experiments
- 1. Texas A and M Univ., College Station
Description
Nuclear physics studies with heavy ions at intermediate energy (10-100 MeV/n) require a new generation of detector systems. They studied the performance of ΔE-E telescopes employing transmission silicon detectors (SSBD and PIN) and CsI(T1) scintillators with photodiode read-outs. The active area of the detectors is 1 cm2 and 20 cm2. Good particle identification and energy resolution have been obtained detecting light particles and heavy fragments up to 25 MeV/u
