Relativistic mean-field three-fluid model for intermediate-energy heavy-ion collisions

Description

A three-fluid model with mean σ- and ω-fields is formulated for heavy-ion collisions at incident energies around 1 GeV/u. It is developed as a natural extension of a similar two-fluid model proposed in a previous paper and is intended to give a better approximation to the complete relativistic mean-field kinetic theory. The collisional coupling between the fluids is formulated in terms of effective hadron-hadron cross-sections in nuclear medium (taking into account the Pauli blocking). The relativistic mean-field three-fluid model (RMF-3FM) is tested for the case of thermalization for counter-streaming nuclear fluids. The comparison with the results of the relativistic Landau-Vlasov equation and the similar two-fluid model (RMF-2FM) shows that the RMF-3FM reproduces gross properties of the equilibration process better than the RMF-2FM.
