Radiation from parallel-plate waveguide filled with uniaxially anisotropic plasma

  • 1. Yatsushiro Technical Coll., Kumamoto (Japan)

Description

This paper describes a method of precise analysis of a system of radiation to free space from a semi-infinite, parallel plate waveguide filled with uniaxially anisotropic plasma. The electromagnetic field is expressed by superposition of a term which is absolutely zero in the waveguide and a term which is absolutely zero outside the waveguide. With the boundary conditions for the electromagnetic field at the wall and opening of the waveguide, the Wiener-Hopf equation system was introduced, and was solved by the condition at the end of the guide. The case of isotropy may be solved. Infinite equation systems concerning the reflection coefficient were solved. In case of zero plasma density, the results are in good agreement with the previous ones. In case of isotropic plasma, the method of analysis is similar to the above-mentioned method. When the electron plasma frequency is larger than one, in case of the uniaxially anisotropic plasma waveguide, the front-back ratio is improved as compared with the case of zero plasma density. The forward gain is not affected by the plasma density of the uniaxially anisotropic plasma. (Kato, T.)
