Description

Among various non-destructive assay techniques developed for the estimation of total activity content of radioactive waste drums, dose-to-curie (DTC) conversion is the simplest method provided, one has adequate knowledge of the radionuclide composition of the waste stream and that remains fairly constant for the given facility. In field applications, there are innumerable different configurations for the distribution of unknown amount of activity inside a waste drum and any deviation from the assumed configuration used for to derive DTC conversion factor will result a finite amount of error in the estimated activity
