Energy in Gironde - Panorama in data. Edition 2018 on data from 2016

Illustrated by maps and figures, this publication first proposes an overview of final energy consumption in Gironde (concentration on the Bordeaux metropole), of its evolution since 2010, of its distribution among sectors (industry, transports, tertiary, housing). It indicates the distribution of energy sources which highlights a high dependence on fossil energies, and the distribution of these sources among the different sectors. It outlines the variation of consumptions between different territories. The second part addresses the energy bill by highlighting the high energy-related expense levels in the transports and housing sectors, that these expenses mainly concern oil and electric power. It discusses the levels of greenhouse gas emissions, their evolution, their distribution among sectors, among energy type, and among concerned gases (CO₂, CH₄, N₂O, fluorine compounds) and by distinguishing energy and non-energy emissions. Energy flows between imports and local production on the one side, and consuming sectors on the other side are then analysed. Data regarding primary energy production in Gironde are presented, as well as data regarding secondary energy production (or energy transformation). The locations of energy infrastructures are indicated on a map, and data regarding renewable energies are presented and briefly commented. The next part proposes a prospective approach with a brief discussion of stakes and regulatory objectives, possible trajectories for production and consumption. Actions to be undertaken are identified: reduction of energy consumption, development of renewable and recovery energies. The evolution towards an energy planning is briefly addressed.
