Processing of SiAl uranium raw materials and recovery of uranium and zirconium salts therefrom
Description
Finely ground uranium raw material is mixed with lye at a concentration of 50 - 300 g/l and is exposed to oxidation by air, oxygen or any other suitable oxidizing agent. It is then heated up to a temperature of 200 - 350 0C. During the process uranium is converted to uranyl salt and zirconium is converted to alkaline zirconium salt. The salts are not soluble in lye nor in water and may therefore be filtered out. (B.S.)
