Description
The forestry-wood chain has important assets for climate change mitigation. Through consideration of the full life-cycle of wood products, these assets are reviewed and the quantification methods of their effects are detailed. The methods are essential for the recognition of these assets. National greenhouse gas emission balances of forest and forest product systems, carbon footprint of products and substitution effects are analysed. The effect of carbon sequestration into wood products could be better acknowledged through an evolution of the carbon footprint methodology. (author)
Abstract (French)
La filiere foret bois dispose d'importants atouts pour la lutte contre le changement climatique. En considerant le cycle de vie complet des produits bois, ces atouts sont passes en revue et les modalites de quantification de leur effet sont detaillees. Ces modalites sont essentielles pour la valorisation de ces atouts. Sont notamment analyses, les bilans nationaux d'emissions de gaz a effet de serre du systeme foret-bois, l'empreinte carbone des produits bois et les effets de substitution. Il apparait que l'effet du stockage de carbone dans les produits bois pourrait etre mieux reconnu en faisant evoluer la methodologie de l'empreinte carbone. (auteur)Files
