Stellar reaction rates for proton captures on 28Si, 50Cr, 54Fe, 58Ni, 60Ni and 61Ni

Description

This paper is the second in a series on the experimental determination of the stellar-proton-induced reaction rates,, on middle-mass nuclei. We give the rates of capture on the ground states of 25Si, 50Cr, 54Fe, 58Ni, 60Ni, and 61Ni, determined from thick-target techniques and compare the measured rates with those derived theoretically from a statistical nuclear model. We also discuss a rapid target-transfer technique developed for measurements on short half-lived radioproducts such as from 285i(p, y) 29P(4.13-s p+). We note the presence of strong analog resonances in the captures on 54Fe and 50Cr. Subject heading: nuclear reactions
