7 Be in fallout deposition at Colibasi-Pitesti during 1991-1993. 7 Be contribution to radiation doses received from natural sources

Description

Most human exposures are produced by radiation coming from natural sources in the environment. Cosmogenic radionuclides are produced by interaction of cosmic nuclear radiation with target atoms in the atmosphere. In considering human exposure the four major contributors 14 C, 3 H, 7 Be, and 22 Na, are discussed. Monthly average surfaces deposition of 7 Be was determined at INR-Pitesti. Gamma ray spectrometry with Ge(Li) detector and Jupiter Series 80, Canberra multichannel analyzer was used to determine 7 Be activity during 1991-1993. 7 Be concentration in vegetation was also determined. Doses were estimated using a computer code (ACRO) based on a dynamic model of gastro-intestinal tract proposed by International Commission for Radiation Protection. (Author)
