Sustainable extraction of molecules for human food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products: extraction in supercritical fluids

Description
Since several years, the ENEA Innovation Laboratory for Agro-Industrial, proposed activities of research and development of extraction processes with supercritical fluids (SFE, Supercritical Fluid Extraction), focusing on sustainability characteristics of the process. The technique, in fact, makes no use of organic solvents, has a low energy consumption and requires a lower number of process steps compared to conventional extractions. The process also responds to the requirements imposed by the legislation for human food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical extracts.
Abstract (Italian)
Da anni il Laboratorio di Innovazione Agro-industriale dell'ENEA propone attivita' di ricerca e sviluppo di processi estrattivi con fluidi supercritici (SFE, Supercritical Fluid Extraction), puntando sulle caratteristiche di sostenibilita' del processo. La tecnica, infatti, non fa uso di solventi organici, ha ridotti consumi energetici e richiede un numero di step di processo inferiori rispetto alle estrazioni tradizionali. Il processo risponde, inoltre, ai requisiti imposti dalla normativa per gli usi alimentari, cosmetici e farmaceutici degli estratti.Additional details
