Radiation environment of the microelectronics and photonics test bed as measured by CREDO-3

  • 1. Space Department, A8 Building, DERA Famborough, Hants (United Kingdom)

Description

The microelectronics and photonics test bed (MPTB) is designed to provide a space test of a number of advanced technologies in a radiation stressing, highly inclined, elliptic orbit which experiences both inner and outer radiation belts and which, for a large fraction of the time, is fully exposed to cosmic rays and solar particles. MPTB requires reliable equipment to monitor dosimetric parameters, among them we have the CREDO-3 instrument whose main aim is to measure particle fluxes, charge-deposition spectra and linear-energy-transfer spectra required for the prediction of single event effect and background noise in sensors. Data from CREDO-3 are presented, particularly data recorded during periods of solar particle enhancement
