Description
The aim of the investigation: to study condition of retina and optic nerve by data of electroretinography (ERG) at the initial stage of autoimmune ophthalmopathies development. Materials and methods: 20 patients with autoimmune ophthalmopathy treated in Eye Microsurgery Unit of the Republican Research Institute of Radiation Medicine and Human Ecology in 2004 have been examined. Electroretinography was performed with 'Neuro-MVP' (Neurosoft) multifunctional computer complex and included general, local (for red and green stimulus) and pattern-ERG. The pattern-ERG revealed the following data. Time component corresponded to the norm, amplitude of N35 and N50-components also corresponded to the norm but amplitude of N90-component was 15-20% lower of the norm. Taking into consideration that ganglion cell of retina participate in pattern-ERG generation, the above-mentioned changes may manifest of pathology in the optic nerve since its mechanic compression by thickened oculomotor nerves and edematic retrobulbar retina takes place. Toxic impact of current autoimmune processes on the optic nerve is not also excluded. (Authors)
