Description
Recently, PS-K has gained much attention because of its role in therapy for malignant tumors. Several studies suggest the possibility that PS-K might enhance the immunological response of individuals, and others suggest the possibility that PS-K might influence tumor cells in cytostatic action. In order to study the influence of PS-K in the course of radiation therapy for uterine cervical cancer, we used PS-K combined with 1,000 rads test irradiation. It was revealed that PS-K with 1,000 rads test irradiation enhanced the radiation effect on tumor cells more than did radiation alone, especially in cases with certain histological patterns. The mechanisms of the PS-K effect on tumor cells are discussed. (auth.)
