Massive reduction in noxious materials given off to the air

Description

It is argued that if all the electricity produced by nuclear power were produced instead by coal-fired power plants, millions of tonnes of nitrogen oxide, sulfur dioxide and carbon dioxide would have been released to the environment. It is stated that a Chernobyl-type reactor accident cannot happen to any of the Swiss nuclear power plants. It is concluded that it would be foolish to renounce nuclear energy which has the advantages of being environmentally clean and giving a sure source of energy for the economy. (G.T.H.)
