Radiological consequences analysis of Xi'an pulse reactor in extreme case
- 1. Northwest Inst. of Nuclear Technology, Xi'an (China)
Description
As earthquake was selected as initiating event, all fuel elements cladding rupture accident was considered as extreme and enveloping case for Xi'an Pulse Reactor (XAPR). In the case, inventory of gaseous fission products was calculated with ORIGEN2 software in spent fuel and source term was calculated with conservative release model. Radiological consequence evaluation was performed with the use of STOERNEU software. The result demonstrated that the most source term was up to 4.50 x 1012 Bq released at 0-8 h period. The result also demonstrated that maximum individual effective doses for members of the public at 100 m boundary from reactor site were 5.47 mSv and maximum individual thyroid doses were 129.74 mSv. These doses were far less than dose criteria of momentous accident in GB 6249, and were less than generic intervention level of sheltering in general emergency. This result could be supplementation to radiological consequence analysis in safety analysis report. (authors)
