Spectrophotometric and solvent extraction studies on neptunium in the presence of hydrogen peroxide

  • 1. Radiochemistry Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Spectrophotometric measurements have been carried out to evaluate H2O2 as a reductant for Np under varying experimental conditions of acidity, concentration and time. The absorbance data suggests that acidity and H2O2 concentration influences the redox behavior of Np. Solvent extraction studies suggest that H2O2 can be used for co-recovery of U(VI), Pu(IV) and Np(IV) from spent fuel dissolver solutions employing DHOA as extractant. (author)
