Testing stand for pre-operational investigation of WWER diagnostic and measuring fuel assemblies

  • 1. Skoda, Plzen (Czechoslovakia)

Description

A testing installation is described consisting of an experimental pressure channel which by its dimensions corresponds to a single assembly unit of a power reactor. It is mounted on a support structure in a vertical position in a shaft 20 m deep. The channel is connected by piping to the circuit of the big water loop and also to the parallel bypass route for operating regimes with a small coolant flow. The structure allows to install leads to instrumentation in diagnostic fuel assemblies and to place operating sensors for measuring temperature, pressure and coolant pulsations. The inner part simulates conditions for the placing of various types of fuel assemblies in the reactor. A second testing stand by Skoda is also described which consists of a pump, a test channel, a heater, a pressurizer and a filtration device. Designs, drawings, technical specification of the two installations and programmes of pre-operational tests are presented. (M.D.) 2 figs., 8 refs
