Description
The effect of fermion generations of embedding discrete translations belonging to the space group of the orbifold in the gauge group is studied for simple Z-orbifold examples. It is shown that the number of generations can be reduced in this way, and that incomplete generations (of E6) can sometimes arise. In one example considered, three complete E6 generations are obtained together with extra Higgs scalars from incomplete generations. (orig.)
