Oxygen effect on the formation of a delayed recrystallization zone in molybdenum

Description
An attempt is made to clarify the mechanism of delayed recrystallization zone formation. It is revealed that recrystallization delay during annealings in the 1O-1 - 10-3 Pa vacuum may be caused by oxygen which comes from the surface films of oxides or from the furnace atmosphere. Effective coefficient of oxygen diffusion in molybdenum is evaluated. It is supposed on the base of the analysis of oxygen concentration distribution and data of electron microscopy that interaction of oxygen with subboundaries and large-angle boundaries is the direct reason for recrystallization delay. Recrystallization temperature increases with the growth of statistical weight of orientation [001]<110> in the texture of polycrystalline molybdenum
