Device for heating metal samples

Description

A device is described for heating a small refractory metal sample to temperatures above 20000C in the vacuum to allow it to be examined, e.g., by emission microscopy. The sample is attached by means of wires to the edge of a dishing in a collector electrode with a hole for the passage of an electron beam emitted by a therminonic cathode, which beam is formed by a cylindrical Wehnelt-type electrode. The electron beam heats the sample. The sample temperature can be set at random by varying the beam current. (UWI)

Abstract (German)

(UWI)
