New non-local spherical optical model of folding type using a matrix method

Description

The possibility is examined for using a calculable R-matrix method to calculate the phase-shifts and scattering wave-functions from a neutron nonlocal spherical optical potential. This potential is generated from a folding procedure using a gaussian interaction, and new practical means for calculating the necessary matrix elements are proposed. Preliminary results showing up interesting convergence properties of this matrix method even for heavy nuclei are given

Abstract (French)

On examine la possibilite d'utiliser une methode de matrice R calculable pour obtenir les dephasages et fonctions d'ondes de diffusion d'un neutron sur un potentiel optique spherique non local. Ce potentiel est genere au moyen d'une convolution utilisant une interaction gaussienne, et un nouveau processus est propose pour calculer rapidement et avec precision les elements de matrices necessaires. Des resultats preliminaires sur les proprietes de convergence sont donnes qui tendent a demontrer l'utilite de cette methode matricielle, meme dans le cas des noyaux lourds
