Description
Charge transfer cross-sections in collisions of completely stripped ions of nuclear charges Zp=3-8, 10 in the intermediate and high energy region with the gound state of atomic hydrogen are calculated within the framework of a single channel distorted wave approximation. Charge and velocity dependence of the nth partial cross-sections are studied. It is found that for a fixed projectile, nmax at which the n-th partial cross-section is maximum, moves towards smaller values as the energy increases. For a constant projectile velocity, nmax increases with the projectile charge. We have also studied the cross-sections of different sub-levels as a function of energy at n=nmax which is obtained from the nmax=Z3/4p model for various projectiles. Comparisons are made with other calculations in the overlapping energy region. (orig.)
