On mechanism of liquid metal penetration into WC-Co sintered hard alloys
Description
Investigated are motive forces and mechanisms of liquid metal (cobalt, copper, tin) penetration into sintered WC-Co alloys at the temperature of complete cobalt+ melting. It is shown that the necessary condition for the penetration of liquid metals into alloy is a good wettability of the refractory phase and its partial dissolution in the binder metal. The mechanism of liquid metal migration in sintered hard alloys is proposed, recrystallization of carbid particles playing a leading role
