Description
Three kinds of shell correction terms combined with four kinds of nuclear mass formulae are compared and a new formula for average nuclear mass is suggested. The new formula has been determined by the least square method within the nuclide masses taken from 1977 Mass Table. In terms of the new formula combined with three kinds of shell correction terms, 1271 nuclide masses are recalculated. The results can be regarded as a criterion for choosing the appropriate shell correction term
