Dissect of GBZ 97-2017 Judgment standard for occupational radiogenic neoplasms - Comment and description of new national standard

  • 1. Tianjin Key Laboratory of Radiation Medicine and Molecular Nuclear Medicine, Institute of Radiation Medicine, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, Tianjin (China)

Description

Judgment standard for occupational radiogenic neoplasms (GBZ 97-2017) has replaced Judgment standard for occupational radiogenic neoplasms (GBZ 97-2009) since November 2017. GBZ 97-2017 employed Chinese excess risk coefficients of cancers due to ionizing radiation, which is representative of the Chinese occupational population. This file used neoplasms list of GBZ 97-2009 because occupational disease classification and catalogue did not define the radiogenic neoplasms list. The radiogenic neoplasms list should be defined soon. In the list of confirmation system of occupational diseases, a neoplasm was classified only as radiogenic or not. As the threshold of probability of causation in this national standard needs to be polished with sound scientific data, this should be considered when defining radiogenic neoplasms list. (authors)
