Evidence for coexistence of different shapes in spectra of 97Sr

Description
In 1988 we reanalyzed the published data on 97Sr and 99Zr and suggest coexistence of spherical and strongly deformed shapes in these nuclei. We suggested that levels 585 (3/2+) and 687 (5/2+) are members of rotational band with K=3/2+ and level 645 and 714 belong to another band. However, observation of only one K+1 member of the band was not enough to be considered as strong evidence for such band. Now we report from a study of the spontaneous fission of 252Cf the observation of I=K+2 (825 keV), K+3 (984 keV) and possibly K+4 (1164 keV) (I=7/2+, 9/2+, 11/2+) members of this K=3/2+ band. New results for 99Sr also will be reported
