Radon and its daughters in the atmosphere over the equatorial Pacific Ocean

Observations of radon daughters in the atmosphere over the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean during the period from 2 to 22 January in 1983 and over the central and western Pacific from 3 September to 14 December in 1990 have been made. Around a spot (2.3oS, 117oW), about 1000 km from the coast of Central America, the concentrations of 222Rn ranged from 0.8 to 1.1 x 10-2 Bq.m-3. Over the central and western equatorial Pacific (20oN -18oS, 150oE-150oW), the concentrations of 218Po ranged widely from 0.8 to 46 x 10-2 Bq.m-3. Near islands the concentrations of 218Po increased considerably. (author)
