Metabolism of 137Cs in human bodies
Description
The study of metabolism and distribution of 137Cs in human bodies is of particular interest because it is a biologically important fission product. The author reviewed data on excretion and retention published in literature, and the biological half-life of long-lived component is mainly discussed. A linear equation describing relationship between biological half-life and body weight for 17 Chinese was given. The mean biological half-life for the 14 Chinese adults (males and females) is 81 days. 87 days of the mean biological half-life was obtained for 11 Chinese male adults. Biological half-life recommended by the ICRP is 110 days for caesium in man
