Description
Introduction: The HFR-Bl test was an irradiation of HTGR fuel samples containing 10 % designed to fail UCO fuel particles. The test objectives were to monitor the behavior of the exposed particles at real reactor conditions of fluence, fluence rate, burnup, time, temperature, temperature cycling and exposure to water vapor. The samples were contained in graphite bodies in three separate capsules. Capsule 1 was operated at relatively constant conditions throughout. Capsule 2 was operated at various temperatures, and Capsule 3 was exposed to water vapor in most of the cycles.
