Excitation of waves in the continuous spectrum in a statistically inhomogeneous waveguide

Description

The relationship between the waveguide mode and the waves of the continuous spectrum, formed by scattering by refractive-index fluctuations, is studied. The altitude structure of the field in the space above the waveguide is examined. It is shown that the scattering of the waveguide mode into the continuous spectrum raises the average intensity of the field outside the channel to magnitudes of the same order as the field in the waveguide
