Description

Recent progress in the development of new methods for the separation of metal ions using supercritical CO2 fluid media is reviewed. A principle, a procedure and advantages of the supercritical CO2 fluid extraction method (SFE) or leaching method (SFL) for the separation of uranium and plutonium are summarized and feasibility of these methods to such processes as a reprocessing of the nuclear spent fuel, a partitioning of the high-level liquid-wastes, and a decontamination of the radioactive solid wastes is discussed.
