Diffraction dissociation of a nucleon into the Nπ system on nucleons and on nuclei
- 1. Institute of Theoretical and Experimental Physics, State Atomic Energy Commission
Description
The process of diffraction dissociation of a nucleon into the Nπ system on a nucleon target and the coherent process on a nuclear target are considered in the framework of a unified model which generalizes the Drell--Hiida--Deck model by taking into account the effects of rescattering. It is shown that the cross section for rescattering of the (Nπ) beam on a nucleon or nuclear target has a normal value. An interpretation is given of the results of the Glauber approach to processes of diffraction production on nuclei, which has given an anomalously small value for this cross section
