Alpha-decay and clustering correlations in spherical and deformed nuclei
Description
A systematic analysis of surface correlations induced by pairing interaction in spherical and deformed nuclei and of α-decay in light Pb isotopes is presented. The role of the mixing of single particle orbitals with different parity in producing surface clustering is discussed. Examples in the Pb and Th regions are reported. Applications to two particle transfer reactions on Sm isotopes are also studied. Employing BCS wave functions for neutrons and Generator Coordinate Method for protons the α-decay on neutron deficient Pb isotopes has been studied. The calculated decay widths are found to be in good agreement with the experimental data for 186-192Pb isotopes. (author)
