Description
It is suggested that the inequality m/sub B/>(3/2)m/sub M/ is a rigorous result in quantum chromodynamics. The analog for a (q1. . .q/sub N/) baryon in SU(N) is m/sub B/>((1/2)N)m/sub M/. The inequality is proved for weak coupling and a version of the strong-coupling expansion where a separation H/sub q/1q2q3 = H12+H23+H31 of the problem can be achieved. Implications for quantum chromodynamics and composite models are briefly discussed
