Investigation of aerosol formation during passive afterheat removal
Description
For the emergency cooling system of a storage facility for high-level radioactive waste of a reprocessing plant, a test rig for studying aerosol formation on a reduced scale has been developed. The vapour of the boiling solution of a waste tank is led through a heat exchanger, the condensate being fed back to the tank. The next step is an NOx scrubber. The heat from the condenser is led to an air cooler in a natural-draught stack. At four positions in this system, aerosol samplers are installed. Ca(NO3)2 serves as the aerosol indicator and is analysed by means of atomic emission spectroscopy. (PW)

Fuer das Notkuehlsystem eines Lagers fuer hochaktive Abfaelle einer Wiederaufarbeitungsanlage wurde ein Teststand fuer die Aerosolbildung im verkleinertem Massstab errichtet. Der Dampf der siedenden Loesung des Abfallbehaelters wird ueber einen Waermetauscher gefuehrt. Das Kondensat laeuft in den Behaelter zurueck. Weiter ist ein NOx-Waescher nachgeschaltet. Die Waerme vom Kondensator wird an einem Luftkuehler in einem Naturzugkamin uebertragen. In dieses System wurden 4 Probenahmestellen fuer den Aerosolaustrag eingerichtet. Als Aerosol-Indikator dient Ca(NO3)2 welches mit Atom-Emissionsspektroskopie analysiert wird. (PW)
