Description

This paper describes the design and fabrication of a slow positron beam at Radiochemistry Division, BARC. It has primarily four components, namely, positron gun along with moderator, vacuum compatible positron source, a 90 degree sector solenoid along with two Helmholtz coils and target assembly that doubles up as accelerator. The positron energy can be varied from 200 eV to 50 keV. The beam size and intensity are expected to be 3 mm and 104 positrons/sec, respectively. (author)
