Studies for the electrodeposition of milligram amounts of uranium on electropolished stainless steel disks (Preprint No. CT-39)

  • 1. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Bombay (India). Fuel Chemistry Div.

Description

Detailed investigations carried out for the electrodeposition of milligram amounts of uranium on electropolished stainless steel disks with the objective of preparing good quality sources for alpha spectrometric studies are reported. A solution of 0.2M ammonium oxalate (volume 4ml) with pH in the range of 8-9 was used as the medium of deposition. A distance of 2 cm was kept between the cathode and the anode and voltage of 25V was found to be optimum for preparing good quality sources conaining milligram amounts of uranium with nearly 100 per cent yield in about 15 minutes.
