Description

Gamma dose rate survey at various radon measurement sites was carried out in high radiation background area at Budhakedar in order to assess any possible correlation between radon concentration in soil and water. Radon concentrations in spring water varies from 5 Bq/l to 3047 Bq/l with mean value 490 Bq/l, while in soil it varies from 119 Bq/m3 to 17.1 kBq/m3 with average value 5.6 kBq/m3. Average a-dose rate in the region w recorded 58.7 iR/h with minimum and maximum values 32.4 iR/h and 83.6 iR/h, respectively. A weak correlation was observed between gamma dose rate and radon concentration in soil gas. However no correlation was found between gamma dose rate and radon concentration in spring water.
