Interaction kinetics in Fe-Ti system at temperatures of 1050-1250 deg C

Description

The interaction kinetics was investigated in the system consisting of an iron substrate coated with a thin titanium layer. The system was heated in vacuum up to 1050, 1150, 1250 deg C and held at heat for 15-120 min. It was revealed that at the temperatures of 1150 and 1250 deg C in the Fe-Ti system the melt close to equilibrium one in chemical composition is formed. A zone of solid-phase diffusion is shown to consist mainly of solid solution of titanium in alpha-iron. The character of phase growth corresponds to general regularities of mutual diffusion in multiphase metal systems. 11 refs.; 4 figs.; 2 tabs
