  • 1. Sandia National Labs., Albuquerque, NM (USA)

Description

The paper describes the design and performance of the Large-Scale Melt Facility (LMF) at Sandia National Laboratories. The facility is capable of producing up to 500 kg of core melt with super heat up to 1500 K. The results of the first experiment carried out in the facility involving the interaction of 230 kg of a 70% UO2-30% ZrO2 melt and a magnesia crucible are also presented. (orig.)
