Strontium-90 and cesium-137 in rice (producing districts) from Nov. 1983 to Jan. 1984
Description
Sr-90 and Cs-137 in rice were determined using radiochemical analysis. Polished rice was collected in three producing districts at the harvest and in nine consuming areas when new crops were first put on sale. The sample was carbonized and ashed in a porcelain dish. The maximum value of Sr-90 was 0.40+-0.14 pCi/kg in rice collected from Yamaguchi in November 1983; the maximum value of Cs-137 was 0.3+-0.12 pCi/kg in rice collected from Yamaguchi in November 1983 and from Fukuoka in December 1983.
