Organophosphorus derivatives of cyclopropane

  • 1. I. N. Ul'yanov Chuvash State Univ., Cheboksary (USSR)

Description

We have found that the reaction of 1-bromo-2methyl-2-phenylcyclopropane (I) with diethylchlorophosphine occurs at a significant rate at 1400C and, as a result, the dihalophosphorane is formed, which when exposed to hydrogen sulfide is converted to the monosulfide of diethyl(2-methyl-2-phenylcycloprophyl)phosphine (II). In contrast to diethylchlorophosphine, the tripropylphosphite reacts with the bromide (I) only at 1700C according to the Arbuzov rearrangement scheme with formation of the phosphonate (III). The structure of compounds (II) and (III) is assumed on the basis of elemental analysis data, and also IR, 1H, and 31P NMR spectroscopy data
