Alpha and gamma transitions in spherical nuclei near 208Pb
Description
The random phase approximation has been used to calculate probabilities of E2 and M1 transitions and also electric quadrupole and magnetic dipole moments of states in nuclei with even A near 208Pb. Using the state amplitudes obtained by this method, with inclusion of configuration mixing and correlations with the ground state, we have carried out calculations of the α widths of the levels. Here we used the non-R-matrix theory of α decay. Comparison is made with all experimental data existing at the present time on α and γ transitions involving nuclei of the type 208Pb+2 quasiparticles. It is found that there is a possibility of occurrence of enhanced α transitions with Lnot =0
