Effect of ageing on the impact toughness of Incoloy alloy 802
Description
Incoloy alloy 802 was aged in the temperature range 600-950 degree C for 24 h and its room temperature impact and tensile properties were studied. It was found that ageing in the temperature range 650-950 degree C led to a great reduction in the room temperature toughness with a minimum (54j) at 700-750 degree C in comparison with the solution treated condition ( 155j). The specimens aged at 700 degree C had higher yield stress and lower elongation than the solution treated specimens. These results were discussed and correlated to the changes in the microstructure and fractography due to ageing. 12 figs., 1 tab
