Corrections to the Glauber model for multiple scattering of heavy nuclei in the first order eikonal expansion

Description

Simple expressions for the corrections to the Glauber model in elastic scattering from heavy nuclei at medium energy are derived from the multiple scattering microscopic formulas obtained in the first order eikonal expansion. The Coulomb interaction of the projectile with the nucleus is also taken into account. The formulas derived are then applied to the p-Ni58 scattering at 1 GeV proton kinetic energy. (author)
