On thiosulfate and sulfite of uranyl

  • 1. Kujbyshevskij Gosudarstvennyj Univ. (USSR)

Description

The products of interaction between uranyl nitrate and sodium thiosulfate have been studied. It is shown that precipitates formed as a result of the reaction are mixture of UO2SO3x4.5 H2O and elementary sulphur. The results of X-ray diffraction, thermographic and infrared spectroscopic investigations on uranyl sulfite hydrate are presented. UO2SO3x4.5 H2O is crystallized in a rhombic structure, with the cell parameters a=21.74(3)A, b=22.42(3)A, c=14.04(1)A, Z=32, space group Pccn. The final product of uranyl sulfite pyrolysis is uranium protoxide-oxide
