Description

The small angle spectrometer of CDF, designed to measure the total cross section at the Tevatron Collider in the 1988-89 run, is described in some detail. Special emphasis is given to the part of the system installed inside the Tevatron tunnel to measure the elastic part of the cross section. We also discuss the performance of the system and the preliminary analysis of a short run at √s=1.8 TeV. (orig.)
