A novel process for recovery of uranium from loading anion exchange resin

  • 1. Beijing Research Inst. of Chemical Engineering and Metallurgy, CNNC, Beijing (China)

Description

The intense fraction eluting process for various loading uranium resins (43-118 mg/g) with sulfuric acid (0.8-1.0 mol/L)-ammonium sulfate (1.0-1.5 mol/L) solutions as eluant in fixed bed has been studied. The total volume of eluted solution was 16-21 BV. The total time of eluting process did not exceed 35 h. the volume of the qualified eluted solution was 1.5-2.5 BV and its concentration of uranium was 15-29 g/L. Two-step precipitation of the qualified eluted solution has been studied. First dry powder calcium carbonate was used for neutralization-precipitation of sulfuric acid. Second, uranium was precipitated from the above filtrate with ammonia. The resulted ADU product was top-quality product
