Uses of electron beams in development of plasma facing components for tokamaks

  • 1. Institute for Plasma Research, Gandhinagar (India)

Description

Plasma facing components of a tokamak (toroidal plasma confinement device) are expected to withstand extremely high heat loads from high temperature plasma. Electron beams plays an important role in development of plasma facing components. High power electron beams are most popular for simulating high heat load conditions during thermal load tests of plasma facing components. This paper gives brief introduction to uses of electron beams in development of plasma facing components for tokamaks. (author)
