Description

The current concepts of cancer therapy has seen tremendous growth in the last decade. With the emergence of nanoparticles engineering and biology, now we are moving towards the development of treatment modes where molecules can be engineered to deliver cancer therapy. These nanoparticles can be labelled with radionuclides with very high specific activity. However, as with every new modality, this approach is also facing several challenges such reticulo-endothelial uptake and subsequent radiotoxicity. Here, we will discuss the areas where these particles are currently employed and challenges that lie ahead. We will also discuss about nanoparticles which are being developed in our laboratory and their future applications. (author)
